Out next Tuesday comes the organized chaos of AceMo’s newest Bootleg Tapes release, Redshift. Gripped from Boiler Room, AceMo drops the single “Water Money” that proceeds to make it rain. As tidal-wave of sound, “Water Money” has a focus that delicately handles space, as would a visual artist experiences on blank canvas. Here, AceMo doesn’t seem to START with a pounding beat, but from a bank of sounds, works a way into blending the contortion of conceptual dance movements, while maintaining composure and patience, trimming any fat that seems to linger. Without losing control, “Water Money” fluctuates in climax throughout (nearly) three minutes of club evolution and brings none of the stuffiness typically attached to high-brow musical ingenious. This is just another day in the studio for AceMo. So stick around. I imagine listeners will be hearing from him again REAL soon come 2016.
