AIM LOW’s first major release in years, the three-track-long Scratched Out, finds Montreal’s shoegaze/drone/ambient/noise adherents no less able than before in expertly weaving together and rendering anti-compositional soundscapes so disorientingly and entrancingly rich in possibilities, that to listen, is to almost inevitably lose oneself in them. Consisting of refashioned outtakes from an unfinished album, and released after a long series of chance personal and professional obstacles, as reported by the band members themselves, it was definitely, nevertheless, worth the wait.
