Finnish shapeshifter Antti Tolvi observes perpetual expansion when “untitled whit Axoloti” is filled with helium and floats to the clouds. Greet the sound of cascading level-ups, each texture a new base for another novelty nexus. Electrons are flit. Quite fine to hear something as warp-y as this from Tolvi, whose earlier work I know has been patient and close. Seems impatience is a virtue too. The track’s rapid sound variations mirror the evolutionary gear his current practice seems to have entered. Recent YouTube videos have him performing in a saxophone quartet, piloting an ARP 2500, and conducting a concert for five tractors.
