“i am going to release a lot music this year. and a lot of videos. you’re gonna be so fucking sick of me. (Tagging Atlantic records so they KNOW it’s ON)”
– Charli XCX, Instagram
Following last month’s vinyl/cassette versions of her latest mixtapes, Number 1 Angel and Pop 2, Charli XCX has been keeping herself busy as an opening act for Taylor Swift®. She kicked off the tour earlier this month with a set that included new song “5 In the Morning,” a moody, trap-inflected banger that sees its official release today.
Produced by “Grammy-nominated multiplatinum songwriting and music production trio” The Invisible Men — who co-produced Iggy Azalea’s mega-hit “Fancy” (ft. Charli XCX) — the song is a sorta-but-not-really follow-up to Number 1 Angel track “3am (Pull Up),” which actually gets me a little worried that Charli is staying up later and later these days. But, like, the benefits of getting adequate sleep goes way beyond just boosting mood or banishing under-eye circles. Adequate sleep is a key part of a healthy lifestyle and can benefit your heart, weight, mind, and so much more. It’s all about finding balance. I’m balanced af, to be honest.
