From Don Sinini’s EP Sun, Sea and Sinini, “Yiapiss” works inside the space of a toxic feeling and takes revenge on it, dancehall-style, with that wise-old-rat tone that contains a hidden energy of a summer of girls and drinks and love and a phantasmagoric haze of psychic and physical intoxicants slashing the music all upon the block. That flutter of cash as it’s expelled from the ATM machine. The warmth of sunlight retained in a glass window; burnt skin that has yet to peel off. Life’s all messed up but hey, at least this can happen. The light from stars, at once present and extinct.
