MJMJ Records continues on the path of glory with a new tape by Grapefruit! Knights Temple dropped today, so MJMJ gave TMT the opportunity to choose a track, and I felt most comfortable with “Mickey Cobras.” I knew it’d be a long-ass day ahead, and since “Mickey Cobras” is the last track on Knights Temple — but perfect to put on repeat for an hour or two — it seemed best to gaze a bit psyched. Don’t be fooled, though. Grapefruit’s sound is so diverse with synthetic kraut and dripping guitar, oozing echos, stretched melodies, and trickled rhythms that a citrusy taste will start to develop inside, energizing that mid-week linger into a blooming bought of imagination.
Thankfully, Grapefruit did listeners RIGHT on Knights Temple, piping a c30 that fits snug between your Gypsy Treasures and Satvia Flats tapes, hiding a very secret stash. That way it’s protected once MJMJ Records swings by for a visit. Then the language is pressed to play. Reeling in enhanced, ultra-sonic sound: Knights Temple glimmers.
Also, be sure to grip your 2016 Spring Series Bundle, maybe?
