Anton Maiof, better known as giallo disco kingpin Antoni Maiovvi, has been pretty busy since we last spoke. After the late 2014 release of his otherworldly techno saga Avrokosm, Maiof’s got a brand new tape under the brand new Pleasure Model moniker. Here are some words on the project from the man himself (via Facebook):
“When I got back to Berlin in September, in the medicated grip of paranoia. I genuinely felt like a lot of people, especially the young people who go to the nightclubs, had been replaced by robots. A lot of this is to do with my own insecurities about being older, not feeling pretty or sexy enough, it was easier for me to blame it all on replicants at the time. So, naturally, I put all these feelings into a project called PLEASURE MODEL.”
All of that can be heard throughout “Pill Towers,” a taut club burner on display below. While Pleasure Model does not bear the Antoni Maiovvi name, it carries the adventurous spirit of Avrokosm onto the dance floor. Kendo Dynamics was just released as part of a massive NNF/SILK spring sale, so pick this one up with a few other choice slabs of vinyl and cassette over at the label’s shop.
