Let’s face it: although it often says all the cool political things, gets funky with all the sexy dance moves, or fills the gaping hole in your mortal soul with good, simple, “big” emotions… alas, most punk just doesn’t “get weird” enough to do all three of those things at once. Not to mention: almost NONE of it makes you smarter. What the hell?!
Yeah, don’t worry; Canadian experimental punk four-piece Hooded Fang are sick of that shit, too. So they decided to take all those facets of punk, blow them sky-high, and jam the melty shards of it back together again. The hideous results? Tunes you can can protest to, fuck to, dance to, and study Art History to… all in the same (very weird indeed) afternoon.
The band’s torrential new album, titled Venus on Edge, comes out Friday (May 13) on Daps Records, but why wait until then to get your weird on? You can stream the whole thing RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW. Check it down below (as well as a smattering of upcoming Canadian tour dates), and get ready to get your protest/fuck/dance/study on.
