On April 1, Aaron Turner (ISIS, Sumac, Old Man Gloom) and Faith Coloccia (Māra, Everlovely Lightningheart) will be joining forces once again for a new album called The World Unseen. After releasing the track “Mara” earlier this year, Mamiffer has debuted the album’s second single, “Flower of the Field II.” It’s a quiet, understated track, shifting ominously from a spare, piano-driven intro to a lush tapestry of organ, synth, guitar, and an ocean of effects. Throughout, Coloccia’s multi-tracked voices hover like specters, effortlessly blurring an early choral music influence into the context of Mamiffer’s dark, all-enveloping sound.
TMT has the pleasure of premiering “Flower of the Field II,” which you can check out below. Meanwhile, The World Unseen is out April 1 on Mamiffer’s own SIGE label. Be sure to scope the dates on their upcoming two-week tour, which begins at Boise’s Treefort Music Festival on March 24.
