Off Jónó Mí Ló’s upcoming Pastel Voids release HD Ghetto, the video for “Theme from New Wprld” consists of film from the 1992 LA Riots compiled and broken by Party Trash. The use of the Rodney King riots and VHS manipulation is contradictory and reinforces what Jónó’s HD Ghetto represents. “HD Ghetto is about limitations, destiny and the rising of the dead. Alchemy and sorcery engaged in war. The rain on judgement day,” Jónó explains. The images, like the neighborhoods they were filmed in, are rundown further by post production. An HD Ghetto. One shown at the true definition of its reality.
HD Ghetto is out July 22.
