I know you’re all currently pretty busy rigorously questioning and thoughtfully revising your definition of indie rock right now in light of the new Car Seat Headrest album that came out (digitally, at least) this past Friday on Matador, but when you get a minute, could you look into this list of upcoming tour dates for me?
No, no, I promise it’s relevant! See, it’s for Car Seat Headrest (you know, the band who’s making you rigorously question and thoughtfully revise your definition of indie rock — remember?) and it’s in support of the recent release of that album Teens of Deinal (you know, the album by the band that’s making you rigorously question and thoughtfully revise your definition of indie rock — it’s out now on Matador? Remember?!?)
I mean, I just thought that maybe the size and scope of this tour could, I dunno, sort of “factor in” to your modern-day sense of what’s “indie,” that’s all. After all, it’s a pretty big tour and stuff. And I gotta be honest, the whole thing at least “looks” pretty “indie” to me: there are some East Coast shows, some festival appearances, some “extended US legs” for August and September… like, all the tropes! Fuck, there’s even an NPR Music exclusive livestream of TONIGHT’S (May 23) show in Washington, DC at The Black Cat starting at 9:30 PM EST. How much more “independent” does it get than NPR?
