If you’ve been spending much of your adult life in a panic of rage and regret over missing the chance to cop the sole Drive Like Jehu 7-inch when it was initially released, your long period of suffering is almost over! The good people over at Merge are reissuing “Bullet Train to Vegas”/”Hand Over First” on June 3. It’s an ever-so-special chance to hear the band circa 1992, growing into the full-fledged party (?) beast (depends on your idea of a party, I guess) that would rear its monstrous head on 1994’s Yank Crime LP. Fun fact: you can hear guitarist John Reis picking up and hurling a trash can in the mix of “Bullet Train to Vegas.”
Drive Like Jehu have been playing select live shows in the past few years, after getting the opportunity to play their hometown of San Diego’s Balboa Park with the city’s civic organist (this is an amazing job title), Dr. Carol Williams. The band have been rocking stages at ATP Iceland, Noise Pop, Coachella, and this summer they’ll be traveling through Europe and the US. Dates below.
