Not Starman. 5TARB01!
Via Mixmag, we have news of London artist Lexxi’s debut EP, 5TARB01. This comes smartly after a truly sublime collab-track on Elysia Crampton’s just-dropped (and EUREKA!‘d) album Demon City, which was the album’s only solo, non-Elysia cut: “Red Eyez.”
Lexxi is a founder of Endless, a nomadic club night originally from Brixton showcasing a range of sounds not typically supported by London’s larger venues. Associates and other founders include Shanti (better known as Yves Tumor), Nkisi (a co-founder of NON), and, well, just about everybody on last month’s Bala Comp Vol. 1, the first “official” release of Bala Club, a local night (and now label) of kindred spirit. Newsworthy among them is Endgame, who just dropped his Flesh EP through Hyperdub. It’s a significant link-up for the young scene, given the label’s esteemed catalogue and position as a real forward-thinking institution of both British and international electronic music. The influence and profile of these artists is quickly and deservedly rising.
5TARB01 comes August 5 as the inaugural release of Lexxi’s Endless Xclusive label, hopefully with more to come from the aforementioned artists in due time. Below is lead single “UP TOP,” an in-bloom, burnt-neon anthem of the first-order. Also check Lexxi’s Sellfy page, where you can grab some of the brilliant producer’s tracks for cheap.
