You remember when we told you about The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger back in July, and you got really excited because, given that you obviously love John Lennon, anything his progeny puts forth (Sean Lennon here) is instant gold? Yeah, sure you do. Their debut album, Acoustic Sessions, which came out (as promised) October 26, was so good it didn’t even need a review from Tiny Mix Tapes, or press from anyone else. After all, it’s Sean effing Ono Lennon! He’s got more talent in his blood than the Brontë sisters combined, prose and poetry included. And that’s to say nothing of bandmate Charlotte Kemp Muhl.
Maybe these two aren’t so pleased with the public’s reaction, be it an enthused spin-off of Beatlemania or a lackluster shrug. Well, the GOASTT’s chance to really get in the limelight is now, and they’re grabbing the bull by the horns this January, when they will embark on their first tour of the US. “After all the entropy, we look like black-and-white movies,” Sean plaintively croons in “Dark Water/White Noise.” Well… black-and-white movies can be exciting, right (even if they don’t make for good lyrics)?
