Hope you’ve been working on your surprise face, because Grimes told us all back in May that she’ll be surprise-releasing a new album in October. Not sure if any of it is still true, but Grimes has at least revealed more about the album since then, such as the fact that most of it was tracked at home, that there’ll be “a lot of diss tracks,” and that it is “more happy and angry” this time around. It also features a guest spot from Taiwanese rapper Aristophanes, who we covered in the grinder a couple years back.
In the meantime, Grimes has just announced a North American tour called “Rhinestone Cowgirls.” She’ll be bringing along Ontario-based singer-songwriter Nicole Dollanganger, who is releasing her first studio album on Grimes’s newly-launched artist co-operative Eerie Organization. Dollanganger’s album, as we reported earlier, is titled Natural Born Loser and is out October 9.
