I consider it a credit to Japan’s semi-isolated culture that they’ve been able establish a game show industry that knows no apparent limits; it’s also the reason why you might not have heard of pop trio Perfume, despite their deserved presence on billboards in their home country and their continued ability to fill arenas after more than a decade of musical activity. I rarely see billboards period in the urban environment where I live, but from what I gather, it would take an artist approaching deification to replace the sex toy stores that seem to have a near monopoly in rural America. Fortunately, Perfume’s upcoming trip to the US is taking them to such places where they won’t be subjecting their eyes to potential commercial offense.
Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York: those are the cities that have been carefully selected to represent the American leg of Perfume’s tour in support of their upcoming album Cosmic Explorer, set for release April 6. Kashiyuka, A-chan, and Nocchi do their own animated explaining in the first video below, but let it be known that actual venues have since been confirmed.
Oh, look! Here they all are:
08.26.16 - Los Angeles, CA - The Wiltern
08.28.16 - San Francisco, CA - The Warfield
08.31.16 - Chicago, IL - The Vic Theatre
09.03.16 - New York, NY - Hammerstein Ballroom
09.04.16 - New York, NY - Hammerstein Ballroom
