Following the March re-issue of Kinks (1964), Kinda Kinks (1965), and The Kink Kontroversey (1965), British non-Beatles The Kinks are now fixing to drop three more classic albums in a brand-new deluxe format on June 13 via the DIY boutique label Universal Music. Specifically, this is your chance to own 1966’s Face to Face, 1967’s Something Else, and 1969’s Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) on three beautifully cumbersome, lovably dead-format CD sets.
The two-disc “expanded editions” come with all sorts of doodads like Mono and Stereo mixes, BBC sessions, interview snippets, rare photos, and studio arguments about the merits of wearing puffy British shirts in public, all of which has been painstakingly re-mastered from original tapes by Wes Anderson. Also, there’s like 900 tracks to list, so this story is OVER. I hope you enjoyed the Wes Anderson joke.
