Not to deny the waxing appeal of the impending Goldrush, but one might’ve suspected that it takes more than a single festival to draw the inimitable Phil Elverum from his wilderness-surrounded haven in Anacortes, WA. Nothing new to report on the Mount Eerie full-length front, so one assumes that these upcoming tour dates are one (or some combination) of the following: 1) An unsurprising display of musical generosity. 2) A realization of his otherwise impulsive desire to travel. 3) The hometown fauna have literally spoken, coaxing Elverum to serve as human ambassador to their newly-established wildlife reservation… operated by the wildlife, who are super intelligent!
Venues off the beaten-path is the name of the game here, with “Sauna and Ice Plunge Tour” being the name of the tour. Maybe you should expect a degree of musical variation, and maybe you should expect a gravitational pull on animals whenever Mount Eerie holds out his arms. “Come to me, my little squirrel friends. If I looook….”
