Dude, can you believe that the “80s band” band New Order are putting a new album out this year?!? Me neither! I mean, it’s not even “the 80s!” Come ON, you guys!
Still, according to the website Pitchfork Media, that’s exactly what’s happening on September 25 (2015!), when the band is slated to release their new album, Music Complete, with their new record label Mute. Unless this is all some kind of hilarious internet hoax… which it probably isn’t, since it’s not really all that hilarious.
Anyway, don’t worry: the most “80s” guy in the band, founding member Peter Hook, isn’t involved in any way (this is their first album without him). The current band consists of frontman Bernard Sumner, drummer Stephen Morris, keyboardist Gillian Gilbert, guitarist Phil Cunningham, and bassist Tom Chapman (the new Peter Hook). The album was produced by the guys in the band, along with Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands and Stuart Price, and it’ll be available on any old, dumb, confusing music format you could want (including a “limited edition eight-piece deluxe LP box featuring extended versions of all of the album tracks,” because you’ll want that). There’s even an official teaser video and tracklisting down below this paragraph, too (or, at least, there will be, as soon as I put them there).
So… yeah, I guess it’s probably no hoax after all? I just hope people aren’t too disoriented when they hear all of this “80s” music.
