It has been more than a quarter century since the world learned who killed Laura Palmer. With a Showtime sequel to Twin Peaks planned for next year, Angelo Badalamenti’s haunting score for the groundbreaking series is being released on vinyl, as we recently reported. And now we have a firm release date and cover art.
According to Welcome to Twin Peaks, Badalamenti said, “I’m glad that after 25 years, Death Waltz Recording Company has re-released the original soundtrack for Twin Peaks for a new audience to enjoy. This is my defining work as a composer and I’m happy it will get a fresh listen.”
The record will be released on beautiful 180g “Damn Fine Coffee” vinyl. The cover art — blue-black Douglas firs, no doubt concealing secrets — was designed by Sam Smith.
The website reports that a re-release of the soundtrack to the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, will also get the vinyl treatment in December.
The score will be available for purchase online today, August 10, at 12 PM CST via Mondo and in stores on September 9. You can also check out Twin Peaks “coffee and pie events” on September 6 in participating stores. These events will include a pre-sale of the record.
