If Beck’s lager is known for anything, it’s the cool, refreshing taste of spirituality. Well that’s the premise, at least, behind the Beck’s Festival Bar lineup at the Melbourne Festival in Australia this October. And honestly, what a cool premise it is! The performances focus around the ideas of shamanism and “music as a religious experience,” with featured artists including Boredoms, Mariachi El Bronx, Dead Meadow, Low, Dengue Fever, and Sri Lankan metal band Stigmata, along with spades of Australian bands. Contributing to the atmosphere will be Melbourne-based design duo tin&ed, who will be decking the Forum Theatre out in something called Holygrams, to fill the “many nooks, crannies, and archways of the Forum Theatre. This collection of handmade shrines, built on layers of relics, found objects, and offerings reveals the many facets of worship in pop culture, iconic artists, and underground musical heroes.” All nights will cost ya $20.
Here’s the lineup:
Boredoms, Kes Band, Bum Creek, Dead Meadow, Stigmata, Blarke Bayer/Black Widow, Sage Francis (w/ special guest B. Dolan), Dexter, Horrorshow, Dengue Fever, The Break, Johnnie and The Johnnie Johnnies, Low, Pikelet, Ponzu Island, The Drones, P.K.14, The Twerps, Mariachi El Bronx, Eagle & The Worm, and The Ukeladies
