Remember The Blow? She’s back! In Pog form. (The Blow announce fall tour of Northeast)

·

In the years since The Blow made great strides in pop music with their analysis of punctuation, Khaela Maricich’s recording career has seemed like it’s become more of an ellipsis than parentheses. There have been no new albums since 2006’s Paper Television (TMT Review) on K, and despite many first impressions, that was not Khaela on YACHT’s See Mystery Lights (TMT Review) (a well-established fact then and now).

But that’s all a tad bit unfair. This year, The Blow (sans Jona Bechtolt, in case you didn’t get that memo either back in 2007) has done a lot of touring as a supporting act for some pretty impressive names, like Jens Lekman on his European tour and Vampire Weekend back in March. Next month, Khaela’s making it out as a headliner across the Northeast, playing in smaller venues to “test out and develop performance elements” (these “smaller” venues are still basically the same ones she would play otherwise, so this new-found intimacy won’t be all that new). Installation/sound artist Melissa Dyne is working alongside The Blow on these performances, in addition to helping out with the new album that’s been whispered about since spring. Let’s not lose hope for a Lindsay Lohan collaboration!
