XBXRX turn water into wine, fit 10 tracks on a 7-inch

·

Little known fact: XBXRX are here to save the world. First order of business: the 7-inch as a sonic investment. You buy a 7-inch for $5, and for the price of a decent burger, you get (at best) three tracks — one of which will probably feel over-played by the time it comes out on the band’s next full-length. XBXRX have a solution for this. The band recently released their 7-inch O on Polyvinyl, with not the standard A-track and B-track, but a fast, punk whirlwind of 10 songs.

Next altruistic contribution to mankind: singer XBXRX Vice Cooler recently organized an LP compilation to benefit orphans of the genocide in Rwanda. Kind of doubles that warm feeling when you buy vinyl, doesn’t it? The LP, NFJM:030, achieved its goal for production funding in mid-September via Kickstarter, and all subsequent profit will go to the Working with Survivors Fund. Even if you’re a heartless bastard and couldn’t care less about the outside world, you have to admit that Cooler managed a pretty nice lineup, whatever the cause:

NFJM:030 tracklisting:

01. Dan Deacon - Mamahaha
02. Frankie Rose & the Outs: Candy
03. Deerhoof - Twin Killers (live)
04. Deep Purr - Head of the Crass
05. No Age - Bird Sex
06. Mount Eerie - Uncertainty
07. Explode Into Colors - How Adee (live)
08. Tre Told Em - Drop Ya Draws (ft. CX KiDTRONiK)
09. XBXRX - Into Red
10. Gossip (ft. John Wiese) - Live at the Smell
11. Xiu Xiu - Sammy

XBXRX: saving the world, one epileptic fit of a song at a time.
