Dismemberment Plan reunite! All their shitty post D-plan projects are instantly forgiven!

·

Holy creative-use-of-synth-bass, Batman! The Dismemberment Plan, that mathy, dancy, poppy, proggy, jazzy, glitchy, twitchy, brilliant, trite, indulgent, deranged, beloved, awesome Washington DC post-punk crew that changed the way we all thought about (among other things) the relationship between outer space and garbage day, is officially reuniting for a small east coast tour… and MAYBE MORE.

As The Washington Post reports, Barsuk will reissue the band’s 1999 mindfuck Emergency & I as a double LP (complete with, apparently, an oral history of the record by The Onion’s Josh Modell, because the last thing we want get for our money is music I guess) on January 11, after which the band will take to the road for five glorious nights of spazzin’ out DC-style. If you live anywhere remotely near the East Coast, now’s your chance to see for yourself just how awful the past 30 or so bands you’ve seen live really are.

And to make awesome matters even more awesome, the band seems to be hinting at the possibility of more awesome awesomeness to come. “We’re not planning a new record,” bassist Eric Axelson told The Post, “but we’re doing these shows and taking it day to day after that.” Wooo! Fire up the memory machine, boys and girls.
