Alexander Tucker (of Imbogodom) to release Dorwytch on Thrill Jockey

·

Is the daily grind keeping you down? Is this incessant chilly weather bumming you out? Ever feel the need to just kick back and rest your feet by a toasty fireplace with a stiff glass of scotch in hand? Well, go ahead and make that happen, but before you do I’d suggest accompanying the atmosphere with the warm, ghost-like finger pickings of Alexander Tucker. Come April, you’ll have a chance to do all this with a brand new Alexander Tucker LP straight from the fine curators of all things musically good, Thrill Jockey.

Dorwytch is Tucker’s first full-length since 2008’s Portal and his first for the venerable Chicago label, though Thrill Jockey did release the acclaimed The Metallic Year (TMT Review) last year, the debut album by Imbogodom, Tucker’s collaborative project with Daniel Beban. Expect a few divisive sounds from this one; according to the label, this album will include full instrumentation, plus drums and guest multi-instrumentalists. It’ll sorta be like when Iron and Wine adopted a fuller sound, except not shitty.
