Tiny Mix Tapes

Amor de Días (The Clientele, Pipas) release Street of the Love of Days one of the days of this lovely week. This day, in fact!

·

Tiny Mix Tapes is the music website of and for the people. Our news is for all, but some stories appeal to a particular web-scrolling set. We know, and you know who you are: you know when to kill a joke and mock a friend, your Rice Krispies are made from basmati, and you use the “Continental 7” (that’s the one with a slash through its middle). More importantly, you enjoy the finer things in life, music-wise, so news that Alasdair MacLean (The Clientele) and Lupe Núñez-Fernández (Pipas) have not only collaborated on an album but that said album as Amor de Días is out today should have you in mild, carefully controlled, stitches.

But such news should excite everyone! Recording tranquilly over the span of three years, Street of the Love of Days includes 15 tracks of Tropicália-tinged, chamber pop greatness and features such like-minded luminaries as the iconic Louis Philippe, Gary Olsen (Ladybug Transistor), and bass and drum freelancers Danny Manners and Howard Monk. For indie trainspotters, the record happens to include the original version of “Harvest Time,” a song recorded and released by MacLean’s The Clientele on its 2009 Bonfires on the Heath album (TMT Review). Street of the Love of Days is out May 17 (that’s today) through the original purveyors of style and taste, Merge Records.
