Bee Mask to release compilation album on Editions Mego sublabel Spectrum Spools; guy with beard of bees jealous

·

Unhappy that some of his best music is only available on cassettes and CD-Rs, Bee Mask (a.k.a. Chris Madak), has gathered together years of hard-to-find material and will be re-releasing it as Elegy for Beach Friday through everyone’s favorite Editions Mego sublabel, Spectrum Spools, who reissued Bee Mask’s Canzoni dal Laboratorio del Silenzio Cosmico earlier this year after hearing that we had it on our year-end favorite albums list.

The double-LP, spanning the years 2003-2010, features some of the earliest work that Madak did under his Bee Mask identity and, thankfully for all of us fans of non-lo-fi material, has been “reimagined, reedited, and remastered, offering both a cross-section for the uninitiated and a fresh enigma for the already-enchanted;” the music has even had its ‘noise that your parents and co-workers will never understand’ factor heightened to an incredible level of 18.

You can preorder Elegy for Beach Friday online, and at the same time you can get some salve for those bee stings; sorry that my beard-of-bees idea didn’t turn out that well.
