Battles announce fall tour and say that they’ll be spending their winter months “doing anything but being on a tour”

·

Battles, who just last Tuesday loosed their newest album Gloss Drop upon the world via Warp, have planned a pretty busy summer for themselves, with dates throughout June, July, August, and September. However, they’re not making it any easier on themselves because the band has just announced that they’ll be playing a month-long tour of the US in October. Included in the announcement is a statement by the band that (may or may not) states: “After our sixth month in a row of heavy touring, we have decided, as a band, that we would really like to be home for a while, sleep in our beds, take shits in our own toilets, and get beers from the fridge rather than a nameless bartender with an extravagant beard.”

“We know that we’ll be sick of diner food and hamburgers,” the band continued, “and we just don’t think that we can give more than six months a year to our fans. We promise that we’ll rest up, program a handful of fantastic drum beats, and be back on the road in no time. Keep writing the stellar reviews.”

The newly announced tour kicks off on October 1 in Boston and is sure to leave a trail of musicians wishing they’d spent more time learning about electronics.
