Lightning Bolt almost done recording new album; meanwhile Brian Chippendale sets aside web comics to exfoliate some Primordial Pus

·

Like many folks who used to care about Providence, Brian Chippendale was bored with the city and its “scene,” or whatever was left of it. He needed something to do to kill some time. Mr. Chippendale then remembered he loved comics, and wrote one. A rather large one, at that. He also, perhaps inspired by tentacle monster Jeph Jacques, decided to start up a a webcomic, called Puke Force, written in a manner similar to his previous tome.

Then, Mr. Chippendale remembered two very important things:

1. Writing a webcomic, especially after being inspired by a tentacle monster, is a rather arduous and long-term commitment.

2. Mr. Chippendale plays music in bands such as Black Pus and Lightning Bolt.

Thusly, Brian Chippendale went back to the recording studio and recorded a new Black Pus album, filled with insane drum pop that only he knows. Called Primordial Pus, it is now available on Load Records, and it shall take you many places that you cannot grasp in form. Do your best to grasp a track from it over at the Chocolate Grinder.

While working on the Black Pus album, Mr. Chippendale spoke to a journalist in Buffalo about Black Pus and other things (e.g., groupies), and mentioned another exciting project: A brand new, shiny Lightning Bolt album! Expected to be a more “upbeat” continuation of TMT favorite Earthly Delights, Mr. Chippendale and fellow Brian Brian Gibson began recording last month, with the intent of releasing the new album sometime between the end of this year and early next. Then, perhaps, Brian Chippendale will write another comic.
