D Generation (90s NYC punk rockers) reunite for tour, new album, and the hell of it

·

After 11 years, Generation Y band D Generation are reuniting in September to tour and record a new album. The two-month tour includes stops on the festival circuit at Spain’s Turborock! Festival, and Stateside at Chicago’s Riot Fest and Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. This is the first time D Generation have toured together since disbanding in 1999; they did, however, reunite in 2008 to play three songs at the opening of the John Varvatos Store in New York City (formerly CBGB’s). Though their career was short-lived, the NYC-based glam/punk rockers put out three albums from 1991-1999, all to critical praise. Since their break-up, the band members have gone on to pursue solo careers, most notably lead singer Jesse Malin, who has recorded with Ryan Adams.

In a statement about the upcoming shows, guitarist Danny Sage explained the motivation behind getting the old band back together: “We all still talk and have stayed in touch over the years. I’ve worked on all of [Malin’s] solo albums. Over the years we have gotten a lot of offers to play but were just busy working on our own things. This year we decided to do two shows together and the offers began to fly in from all over the world and it just grew from there.”

The tour only hits select cities in the US, so be sure to check out the complete list of dates below. This report has been brought to you by the number 90 and the letter D.
