Vincent Moon financing series of ATP short films through Kickstarter to brag about all the shows he’s been to

·

This past weekend the All Tomorrow’s Parties I’ll Be Your Mirror Festival took place in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Curated this year by Jeff Magnum, the off-shoot of the ATP festival, headquartered in Minehead, England, is perfect for Americans who can’t make the trip overseas — and now there’s more good news for Yanks looking for further access to the UK festivals. Filmmaker Vincent Moon, who directs all those Take Away Shows, has made four short films from his experiences at ATP over the years. However! Though the films are finished, Moon and collaborators Warp Films and ATP came up short of cash in the post-production phase. To help finance the shorts, Moon and ATP have created a Kickstarter account where fans and festival enthusiasts can donate money, but the time for philanthropy is running out; the deadline to donate is October 15. Contributors who give a minimum of $10 get to see the films first, over an exclusive three-month preview period.

The four 30-minute films are named (…or about) From Smoke — Portishead’s Nightmare Before Christmas (narrated by Damo Suzuki); From Hybrid — Explosions in the Sky’s ATP (narrated by Saul Williams); The Melvins/Mike Patton curated Nightmare Before Christmas; and 10 Years of All Tomorrow’s Parties festival. The films (tentatively) feature performances by Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, Four Tet, Animal Collective, The National, Saul Williams, Monotonix, Fantomas, Taraf De Haidouks, Teenage Jesus and The Jerks, Rahzel, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Afrirampo, Sleepy Sun, and others.
Money from the Kickstarter account will go toward film editing, sound mixing, legal fees for permission to include music and artists in the film, and web hosting fees for the videos.
Donations will be processed through Amazon and no donations will be redeemed until the project is financed in full.
