Prurient to release new double 7-inch with charming artwork by Genesis P-Orridge

·

Dominick Fernow had an eventful year in 2011 with the release of his “controversial” synth-pop record Bermuda Drain (TMT Review) as well as the follow-up Time’s Arrow EP and several cassettes. Not to mention there was the celebrated 300th release by his record label Hospital Productions and the devastating and abrupt closing of his physical retail store in NYC. This year will likely be no exception for the noise scene’s favorite busy man, and Fernow is starting off with a double 7-inch release via Dais Records (Cold Cave, aTelecine) entitled Wrapped in the Flame of Illusion, Masked in the Clay of Behavior.

According to Dais, this release should see Prurient still pushing forward with new territory, as the label describes the record’s four compositions as “ambient power electronics” that “throw away that past decade of experience” and “captures Prurient at its most vulnerable and sedate, reflective and rapt.” Go here to order.

For the album artwork on this limited release of 500 copies, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge of Throbbing Gristle supplied an original collage (pictured above). A match made in heaven? Ha! These men have nothing to do with that place.
