White Fence doesn’t do anything half-assed. That’s the message to be gleaned from main dude Tim Presley’s insane spring tour itinerary, kamikaze SXSW performance schedule, and double album release. In the words of the divinely inspired (or maybe possessed) Mr. Presley, “Wake up. write. write. record. tweak. write. record. swallow. tweak out. tweak. bounce. write. wake up. record. sex? no. sleep. wake up. record. i hardly have anything but this anymore. i’m a slave to my cats.” And with the rad sort of 60s-inspired garage gems White Fence has been producing in lovely spades, that “no sex, all cats” game plan seems to be working.
The busiest man in garage rock ‘n’ roll has tour dateslined up from March through May, when he’ll be on tour with Ty Segall. White Fence will also hold down nine — count ‘em, nine — showcases over the course of five days at SXSW next week. And dude’s already booked for the Woodsist label’s big festival in Big Sur, California in early August. Lest you think he’s slacking, Presley also has a third full-length, the double album Family Perfume in the works. Woodsist will release Vol. 1 on vinyl and digitally on April 3. Vol. 2 gets a vinyl/digital release on May 15, the same day a cassette and CD version of the whole deal will hit stores. A 2xLP version will be released at an unspecified date in the future. And if you still haven’t gotten your fill of White Fence, Presley also has Hair, a collaborative LP with Ty Segall, coming out via Drag City on April 24. The jams, they have been officially kicked out.
