ATP announces Shellac and The Dismemberment Plan for final End of An Era Festival

·

Now that ATP has declared an end to their famous (or infamous) UK holiday camp festivals, a giant gaping maw of sadness lies in wait to consume us all in its watery saliva of nostalgia. And yearning. And pain. And did I say sadness? Whatever, say it 15 more times. So, as the ATP End of An Era festival weekends draw near, a select group of musically inclined individuals will be on hand to dispense hankies, hugs, and possible life alternatives to those going through the grieving process. Although End of Era weekend 1 is sold out, weekend 2 has recently announced a sparkling lineup of bands to help the fest go out with a bang. And a hug.

Shellac, people. They curated one of the first ATP festivals more than 10 years ago, returned again in 2012 to celebrate their 20th band anniversary, and now they’re back to reprise their role as the ATP “house band,” a nickname resulting from the band and the fest’s long and storied relationship together. Other new announcements include a rare UK performance from The Dismemberment Plan, The Magic Band, no wave legends Ut, a solo performance from the Dirty Three’s Mick Turner, and France’s Les Colettes. Also appearing will be co-headliners Slint and Mogwai, plus The Pop Group, Goat, Superchunk, Fennesz, Comets On Fire, Girls Against Boys, Michael Rother (performing the music of Neu! & Harmonia), Om, Ty Segall, Edan (DJ Set), Il Sogno Del Marinaio featuring Mike Watt, 23 Skidoo, Dirty Beaches, Balam Acab, Tall Firs, Wolf People, Thought Forms, New War, Dawn Hunger, White Fence, Eaux, Civil Civic, Follakzoid, Kandodo, Hookworms, The KVB and DJ Jonathan Toubin.

Weekend 2 runs from November 29-December 1 and is curated by ATP and Loop. Tickets are available online.
