Flowers set to blow brain matter with debut record Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do

·

Flowers are the kind of band that make you sick. One of those dream-come-true stories of a group of impossibly young and good looking London waifs who record a shit-ton of demos about being young and carefree in about a day and then get invited to play their first live shows on a European tour with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Yuk.

Now for the figurative smell of rotting meat to really stir up that nausea: Flowers have announced the international release of their debut album Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do, which will be released on September 8 via Fortuna POP! (UK/Europe) and September 9 via Kanine Records (USA).

Not only that, the record, which is described as “a beautiful album that conjures up a strange and entrancing sort of magic,” was produced by Brit-pop demi-God Bernard Butler (Suede). You can get a taste of their legitimately stirring and brilliant brand of soaring rock with the opening track “Young” right here:

The only thing you can really pull Flowers up on is the questionable logic they demonstrate with the title of the record. There are certainly some occasions where doing what you want to do does not coincide with what you should do — for example, cannibalism, sleeping in when you have an exam, homicide, eating bread if you’re gluten intolerant, wearing leather pants to a funeral, watching horror movies with your nine-year-old cousin, stealing a goat from a petting zoo, drinking bleach because you like the taste, giving your grandma a tattoo while she’s asleep, bidding a trillion dollars for a pair of shoes on eBay, feeding your cat lasagna, wearing a Slipknot t-shirt to church, peeing your pants because you’re too lazy to get up in the middle of the movie, or even just wearing one of those hats with a little propeller on it.
