As if by so much water from the trunk appendages of two elephant-and-plastic-surgery-obsessed young men, we, the readers and the listeners upon this fine earth might now feel bone-deep soaked by a squirt of details from Death From Above 1979 about their upcoming album The Physical World. The first dribbles of information came in the form of a interview with the group in NME. It was then that plans for a new album were confirmed. But this mere confirmation was not enough. We, the listeners and the readers, did not feel quite soaked enough, in a metaphorical sense, by the information offered. Taking our complaints quite literally, the group explained that the surgical procedure for attaching an elephant trunk to a human face is still quite experimental, and that there have been a few minor difficulties in the form of leakages around their noses and mouths.
BUT NOW! The leakages, oh, they are but a faint, faint memory (thanks to a team of highly-skilled doctors). And we celebrate their passing! Death From Above 1979’s Sebastien Grainger and Jesse Keeler now have a much more direct and solid flow of analogy-information-water! Like, for example, you already knew the album is out September 9, but did you know that it’s now available for pre-order both via iTunes and as a part of a variety of physical packages? And did you know that the album will have tracks that, against all odds, fit into the popular list format quite nicely? Check below for confirmation on that one, bucko. Oh, and there’s a new stream of the single “Trainwreck 1979” (it debuted earlier this week on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 Show) that you can scope below. Tour dates, too! I’d say we can chalk this one up as another victory for elephants, modern medicine, and society as a whole.
