Have you heard of Peter Boothroyd? No? Yes? Anyway, he’s 21, he lives in Manchester, England, he doesn’t have many tracks available online, he did a nicely sardonic interview with Dazed Digital, he’s been signed to Tri Angle Records, he’s putting out his debut EP Idle Hours under his surname through the label on September 30. Bam, bam, bam. News.
That’s really all I can say with dignity, because Boothroyd’s sound lends itself oh so well to overblown music writing (which, to be clear, is not a bad thing for the musician). You can’t hashtag it and, for your sake, I won’t wax poetic and end up prosaic in trying. All I can say is that if you know Tri Angle’s output, then you’ll have a good framework to approach the noxious noise-beat pipeline that is “NYC” (which apparently doesn’t stand for New York City), the EP’s lead single.
Listen to that and read the EP’s tracklist below.
Idle Hours tracklist:
01. NYC
02. Skinned
03. Colony
04. Y5
