Jamie Stewart provocatively undresses a new Xiu Xiu video while subversively announcing NYC events and European tour dates

·

Stop that, Jamie — everyone’s watching! What, you want them all to find out? That kind of takes the romance out of it, don’t you think? I guess… it’s fine. Maybe I should just tell them. It’s easier that way. You’ll just scare them.

Okay, sorry for the weirdness — Jamie and I wanted everyone to know that we’re making our first news announcement together today. We really didn’t want you to find out like this. But you can’t fuck with fate.

The first thing Jamie wanted everyone to know is that there is a new video for “Cynthia’s Unisex,” one of the songs off Xiu Xiu’s latest album, Angel Guts: Red Classroom. Florent Texier directed. SFW.

Also, Jamie wanted all of his friends in New York to come hang out while he takes over the city. Aside from a “standard” concert at Glasslands, Xiu Xiu will also take part in some “alternative” performances. “Metal” is a collaboration with conceptual artist Danh Vō that takes place at The Kitchen. As part of the piece, Xiu Xiu will perform syncopated rhythms side by side with two gold pounders from Thailand, presumably members of the workforce that generate the gold leaf used in Vō’s finished art, which will be hanging at the exhibit. “Metal” runs from September 27 - October 18, with an opening reception on the 27 at 6 PM. Xiu Xiu will debut another piece on September 28 at the Dumbo Arts Festival. “Kling Klang!” consists of 999 vibrating instruments attached to the copper sheets of Danh Vō’s art installation “We The People,” according to Jamie (and the press release).

Last but not least: Xiu Xiu’s going to Europe! Wait, Jamie, does that mean you’re just up and leaving me here in the ultra-banal USA, waiting for you until you return from Chuckleslovakia or wherever the fuck you’re going? You are dreaming, mister. Have a nice fuck of a life. (I miss you).
