Come next month, baroque-wave master and one of People Magazine’s “Top 25 Cutest Lutists” Jozef van Wissem will release his 11th solo album It Is Time for You to Return. Return arrives December 2 via Belgian label Crammed Discs and upholds the tradition of Jozef really knowing how to name an LP (i.e. A Rose by Any Other Name (Anonymous Lute Solos of the Golden Age), Concerning the Entrance Into Eternity).
The album is part of Crammed’s “Made to Measure” series, a three-decade-old and running composer series that asks artists to score music for other media (real or imaginary). Return features nine new tracks of van Wissem shredding the 24-string and includes several songs with van Wissem on vocals (a first for the composer’s 14-year-old solo career). Additionally, Return also includes contributions from Domingo Garcia-Huidobro (of Föllakzoid), Jim Jarmusch, and Yasmine Hamdan (both of who appeared alongside van Wissem on the Only Lovers Left Alive soundtrack).
