If you fuck on ONE AyGeeTee release, you gotta go for it ALL. Well, at least you gotta try. ‘Cause he doin’ what most try just with making noise and experimental sound collage/sculpturing, but flips it into something JUST BARELY acceptable for a wider audience. By using a “dance” platform for the sounds he conjures up and flings around, AyGeeTee wildly involves shape into a typically limitless adventure in Imminent Orphan.
Thankfully, Imminent Orphan found a home on Reckno. But should we be “thankful?” Consider the title and it being a label-release, rather than a self-release: technically Imminent Orphan now has “family.” Thus, is the (dis)placement a poke at the idea of using “dance” music at the expense of accessible experimental sound projects? Or, does the name-sake comment on all those still creating experimental sounds while alienating those trying to listen, creating more Imminent Orphans? They’re nearly there. But AyGeeTee beat you.
Imminent Orphan by AyGeeTee is out now on Reckno both digitally and on cassette. Get it popping, y’all:

AHHH, the answer is much more involved and deeper than I’d thought!
This is the work I made during the short period of time between my Father being diagnosed with terminal cancer and his eventual death, six weeks in all. Not really very long but clearly a pretty intense time. I didn’t set out to make an album, but I thought that somehow it all seemed slightly different from the work I’d been making before and that it reflected the way I was feeling at the time, I suppose I was using the process as an outlet. My Mother died six years ago, hence the ‘orphan’ thing.
Despite it all there was a lot to be thankful for in that time and when confronted so closely with death - life and work and love and living become a much stronger force. There was a lot of positive energy that went into making it and if anyone wants to dance, jump up and down or whatever positive reaction you just might feel, please go ahead because I certainly don’t want anyone to have a bad time listening to this tape. I realised that this music only existed because of the feelings I was going through and that perhaps others listening to it might find that interesting too.
