Following up last year’s masterful Marigold & Cable (TMT Review), as well as the recent reissue of some Taiga Remains material, Alex Cobb has just unveiled the news of a brand new solo LP. Chantepleure (Out April 28) is “his most optimistic and sanguine musical statement to date,” with four works of meditative drones that are both sparse and captivating, as well as ranking among Cobb’s best work to date. “Prayer Ring,” streaming below, opens the record with seven sanguine minutes of refreshing, peaceful tones. In addition to the LP being up for pre-order, the lucky first 50 buyers will get a special cassette of “each of the album’s four compositions remixed/reworked/reimagined by Secret Pyramid, Sarah Davachi, Billy Gomberg, and M. Sage respectively.” Drone on, baby!
