King Cyst - “Chinese Wind” “Chinese Wind”

·

On the come-back from his 2012 Underwater Peoples’ LP Real Pussy, King Cyst continues to croon a cocktail of slurs more articulate with the sounds surrounding his voice than his pronunciation of eloquently worded lyrics in his new Underwater People’s LP King of New York. Matched with flute, light-light brass, organ, hard sax, bass, strummin’ guitar, light cymbal taps and steady snare snaps that all individually have a mind of their own, King Cyst’s woozed-out role as lead-singer characterizes the entire package of “Chinese Wind” both focused and lackadaisical. It actually sounds like a good blend between Jerry Paper and Tara King Th, both appropriations differently occurring within “Chinese Wind,” but this is what makes King Cyst different: personality. Flagrant personality through the music and into the listener (a reliable trait that has been occurring more frequently in the past two years on the Underwater Peoples roster). Other characters throughout the track. Scenes and descriptions. “Chinese Wind” leaves ME so hungry in anticipation to find out what makes him King of New York. So head on over to Underwater People’s this summer to find the shade you’ve been looking for, King Cyst will serve you up a pimms glass of bourbon breeze that’ll knock your socks into relaxation. SQUEEZE:
