If I’m understanding this correctly, Yàocavé performed at Poisson Noir this past February, played and recorded Selected Extreme Pop Works Vol. 2: Fehérlófia’s Candy Flippin’ Danse Mix, and then put Marcell Jankovics visuals to it. The mix is total overload, like a combination of Eco Reject Mixtape from last year and the 2015 Ponibbi Dazed Mix. There’s a heavy manic vibe too that I appreciate in this sort of mixing that’s drastically maximalist and over-baring, but equally poppy and overloaded with joy. It’s also like digital-age overload. As if the machines have taken over, and are expressing their joy through a smashing of tracks that are equally overwhelming as they are crashingly euphoric. And Selected Extreme Pop Works Vol. 2: Fehérlófia’s Candy Flippin’ Danse Mix @ Poisson Noir, 02/20/2015 is definitely a vibe I get a lot while driving home from Brooklyn clubs, having listened to this type of music for about four hours. Yet, Yàocavé is based and had played this mix initially in Montreal, and I ain’t never been to Canada, but I’ve heard from pals it’s nonstop. Also heard people actually dance there, New York.
