Ramleh - “Re-Entry” “Re-Entry”

·

Beautiful dreamer, beautiful dream, time is, replicated into tiny circles wound on our wrists. No matter how large men wear em, there’s still a lot more time bacterium — the devil up for debate — left to replicate, and plenty of room for time to play slash n’ burn tetherball around the seasons in a Maypole dance of chaos.

Sure, time has passed since Ramleh’s played it this way as they do on their flawless double CD Circular Time, but no time has passed. You buy that, right? Covering themselves in noise rock raga mud and drone notes and shrouded behind the colors of noise, Ramleh shift and edge along the circumference of time, no problem, so long as the monitors are at max.

Why so shrouded? Mysticism and ritual are felt everywhere in Circular Time, vibrating towards formless outer banks. Club drums ground the dizzying effects of high-pitched shredding, only to catapult them off the edges. A Catherine wheel on the plateau near climax throws sparkler ash into the formless. Out there, “Mermaids are chanting the wild lorelei,” a bird-shadow menace, darkness again.
