Back in 2014, London-based producer and Quantum Natives-affiliate Brood Ma released P O P U L O U S, one of our favorite albums of 2014, described by DeForrest Brown Jr. as “using the phenomenal of sound and the plasticity of its conception to engage the fetishism that comes along with first-world commodity exchange.” This year, the enigmatic producer returns with a new album, DAZE, out February 19 on the incredible Tri Angle label.
DAZE — Brood Ma’s third release, following the aforementioned P O P U L O U S and 2012’s F I S S I O N — sees the producer once again pushing club music to the extremes, excavating the HD ruins of excess and virtuality for critical commentary. As Brood Ma himself puts it, DAZE is “a documentary of the military engagements played out amongst adults and children across worldwide server space and an attempted critique of the current obsession with survival playtime, played out through politically prosed pop references and narratives of fictional, future juvenilia.”
