Two pinging sounds of 2015 still resonate right now: nihilist noise anti-rhythmic beat music (Lotic, Rabit, Chino Amobi) and Middle Eastern influenced club readies (Track Meet Records, NON and NAAFI to an extent). They were uncategorizable experiences from uncategorizable producers, but (at least in this headspace) pushed against the pretense of a ‘norm’ which occur every year and keep the I’m-gonna-dive-into-Bandcamp-tags-for-hours-instead-of-going-out life alive. Thanks y’all! SO, keeping the latter love from 2015 alive now is LA producer HABIBIBOI who is as fun to type as they are to listen to.
