“Without Doubt” is “the first of three long piece improv singles using mainly analog.” Having hired a mariachi band to perform strings and trumpet, Warm Places echelons this project into a level of reality that could only be possible utilizing the effectiveness of modern technology. The track is inspiration in sound, adventurous in pace, emotional in depth, and advantageous with samples and recorded, edited production. Like a plum of something non-toxic, but just as brain-frying, “Without Doubt” swirls ears like a never ending drain (if you’ve set it on repeat). Strings of all kinds being slowly vibrated or plucked. Vocals like, “Who just said that?” Watery electronics. A mess of power surges. Anti-harmonies like we in a church with two conflicting religious trying to worship simultaneously. Synthetics just being left on, in a cave, just outside the part of your mind that finds mystery inevitable. Warm Places is just getting started.
