Arvind Ganga’s travel brochure for the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is a blend of asphalt and incense, with vibrant colors twisting into the nexus. Ganga’s snap-crackle-pop observations fold together the Temple’s top-heavy decor, its aromatic interior and the surrounding seismic traffic. Each observation is a prayer challenged by disruptive thoughts, with the scratch-marks to prove it. On display always is the pliability of reverent curiosity touched by confusion not unlike that of a journalist with head bowed wearing a baseball cap inside the Alamo.
