Floating Points made a deep studio album called Eleania last year, which loads of people thought was really, really good. And because loads of people thought Eleania was really, really good, Floating Points thought he better work out how to play the songs live so he could tour the world. This is because everyone knows that Steve Albini is right about everything, including the fact that touring is where a band can thrive right now.
After having assembled a live band to tour with and working out how to recreate all the kraut-goodness of Eleania live, Floating points started to worry that maybe people who want to see him on his current North American tour won’t realize that the live Floating Points experience is a little different than listening to the studio album. That’s when some unknown genius suggested that Floating Points record a live jam called “Kuiper” and release it as an epic, one-song 20-odd-minute EP called Kuiper with a B-side.
Which is exactly what Floating Points did. So, now you can see Floating Points on his North American tour and get an idea of what it’s going to sound like by listening to the Kuiper EP.
Or you can just buy the Kuiper EP on July 22 and imagine yourself at a live Floating Points experience if you don’t live anywhere near North America.
Start now by checking out the video for Kuiper.
