James Ferraro and Ian William Craig get vinyl reissues from Aguirre

·

Belgian-based experimental label Aguirre has re-released obscure works by James Ferraro and Ian William Craig on vinyl, giving these albums the tricked-out deluxe treatment they deserve. The mischievous Ferraro’s 2009 CD-Rs Rerex 1 and Rerex 2, which are now available as a three-vinyl set, are Casio-based soundscapes harking back to his “hypnagogic” days, all smeary soundscapes and dreamlike textures. William Craig’s Meaning Turns to Whispers, on the other hand, is a gorgeously meandering collection of piano improvisations and FM feedback recorded from 2009-2011, perfect for fans of Tim Hecker’s Radio Amor or William Basinski’s Variations for Piano and Tape.

Both are now available through Aguirre’s website, but in the words of every Home Shopping Network host ever: act fast! They’re limited to 500 copies a piece.

And don’t forget: both James Ferraro and Ian William Craig have new albums coming out.
